AGARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): When the golden girl of Tripura, Dipa Karmakar has made her entry in Olympic as the first Indian women to represent in Gymnastic, adding a golden feather in the history of Tripura, not a single CPI-M member was witnessed at Agartala airport for welcoming Dipa karmakar and her coach Bisheshwar Nandi.
This unfriendly attitude of CPI-M has sparked of controversy among Tripura people.
First Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics, Dipa Karmakar returned home amid loud cheers from thousands of fans on Friday, who had thronged the Agartala airport to see her but hardly any ruling party representatives were seen at the airport for welcoming them.
On the one hand CPI-M claims to socialist but such unfriendly attitude has sparked off controversy among the common people.
It is to be mentioned here that Dipa and her coach, Bisweswar Nandi, who arrived from Delhi on Friday morning, were received at the Agartala airport by the Director of Sports of the state, Dulal Das, Secretary of the Sports Council of Tripura, Dilip Chakraborty.
After a hectic schedule at Rio de Janeiro and a long journey back home, Dipa is now looking forward to stay with her parents for a week.
However, Just hours after becoming the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the Olympics, Tripura girl Dipa Karmakar created history by bagging the gold in the vaults finals at the test event of the Rio Games on April 18, 2016.
Dipa won the gold in the first attempt after scoring 14.566 in her second and last try in the women's vaults finals, PTI reported.
22-year-old Dipa, who has won many laurels and medals for India, has made the country proud by raising the Tricolour at the most prestigious international tournament.
Dipa scored a total of 52.698 points in the Olympics qualifier event to get a place as an artistic gymnast in the Rio Olympics in August.
