AGARTALA, April 22 (TIWN): Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey alongwith his Dept official including Secretary S K Rakesh, TSECL MD Shyamal Roy,Chief Secretary Y P Singh and other Govt. officers held meeting at Prgana Bhawan on Friday to discuss about the various unpaid bills of Govt. Departments to TSECL (the power dept. of state). Reportedly, many govt. Departments has not cleared pending bills amounting to crores to TSECL (Tripura State Electricity Corporations Ltd), which was reported by TSECL MD, followed by all State Govt. departments brought under review of Tripura Power Dept. TSECL asked State Govt Depts to clear the unpaid bills over 100 crores as the Power Ministry is now heavy pressure , ,unable to clear over 190 crores of bills to Tripura’s power supply grid, power plants OTPC, NEEPCO. Tripura Govt functioning under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has reached to such low standard that various Govt Depts ignoring due payments, no accountability, even the meeting at Pragna Bhawan was named as – “Meeting of operationalization of Centralized Electricity Bill payment to TSECL by all state Govt Departments.”

TSECL (Tripura State Electricity corporation) is under huge pressure as already it has begged just few days back to extend deadlineto clear NEEPCO’s pending bill of Rs 180.33 crores.

Reportedly, due to the unpending bill of power which stand Rs 180.33 crores since May 2013 Tripura was to lose power supplying from NEEPCO from April 5, 2016. But TSECL on March 30 had begged for some more time to come up with pending due bill to power generation plants like NEEPCO and OTPC..

In absence of disciplined administration,  issue has been going on however since last 2/3 years after Tripura Govt.’s failure to clear the bill of over hundreds of crores.

With the recent publicity stunt of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Power Minister Manik Dey on the 100 MW power supply to India’s neighboring country Bangladesh, Tripura was further pushed towards acute power crisis in the coming days, says civil secretariat sources.

North Eastern State Tripura, which was already suffering from power crisis, with now power supplying to Bangladesh from Tripura based power plant OTPC at Palatana, Udaipur - the state will suffer more from power cut problems.

Now, Tripura people are forced to witness this kind of drama in the middle of horrible summer as Ministers, Govt officials discuss these administrative, accountability lapses under the comfort of air conditioned Pragna Bhavan.
