DHARMANAGAR, Feb 15 (TIWN) : ‘Discover North East Yatra-2016’ has been started in Tripura on Sunday.
Minister Bijita Nath inaugurated the programme at Dharmanagar. Reportedly, the programme will continue at North Tripura for 3 days. This ‘Discover NE was started from last year in Tripura which is a way of cultural exchange between North Eastern states.
“Such programme are really appreciable as it opens the scope for the artists of NE states”, said Bijita Nath during her speech.
The programme held at Vivekananda Sardha-Satabarshiki Bhawan, Dharmanagar.
Dignitaries as Minister Bijita Nath, Pratime Das, Jilla Shabhadipati, Manik Lal Das, Vice Chair Person of Dharmanagar Municipality, Amitabha Dutta, former MLA and others.
The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in collaboration with the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of Tripura with the support of District Administration presented “Discover North East Yatra”.
Discover North East was conceptualized by the NEZCC with a view to promote the best of North East Heritage in a cultural yatra format to give its citizens a better understanding and appreciation of each other’s traditions.
The primary goal is to take North East Culture to every section of the society in the country and cultivating it first within the region will strengthen it believe the organizers.
Cultural dance presented by various cultural troupes from Haryana, Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Sikkim and Manipur marked the festival.
