Agartala, Sept 15 (TIWN) In a weird episode, doctors at a government medical college in Tripura conducted surgery at a patient’s lower abdomen and urethra instead of conducting biopsy at his mouth.

53-years-old ill-fated Ratan Das, a petty trader of Ampi Bazaar in southern Tripura, has been suffering from some wounds in his mouth.

Ratan’s wife Jhulan Das Saturday has filed a complain with the police, health minister, health director and others concerned to take punitive action against the erring three doctors.

Ms Jhulan Das in her compain said : “My husband getting advice from the senior doctors admitted into the Gobinda Ballav Pant Medical College and Hospital last week to conduct biopsy at his mouth. Three doctors have conducted surgery in his lower abdomen and urethra.”

Getting complain from Ms Jhulan Das, police at the East Kotowali police station said that they are now inquiring into the matter.

The doctors at the medical college and hospital later told reporters that the patient “has also some problem in his lower abdomen and urethra.”

The doctors’ claim was out rightly rejected by Ms Jhulan Das saying that the doctors telling lie to save their jobs.

Doctors at the medical college on condition of secrecy said that another Ratan Das had been admitted in the hospital with abdomen and urethra related problem.

“I have learnt about the wrong operation upon my husband, when he was screaming on the hospital’s bed Saturday. I asked the doctor why operation was conducted upon my husband’s lower abdomen. The doctors on duty threatened me to remain silence or face dire consequence,” Jhulan Das stated in her complain.
