AGARTALA, Oct 29 (TIWN): Despite railway safety board have given a clear message that the route is ready for passenger service between Silchar-Lumding On October 13, the service might get delayed due to some minor drawbacks which needed to be rectified. The early the train service starts more the better for Tripura but the delay in the Silchar-Lumding railway service will gradually put paused to the launch of BG railway service by March 2016. Although, it was all set to start the passenger train service between Silchar – Lumding before Diwali festival in November but it seems that some faults in the work would delay the service. Reportedly, a team headed by two general Managers of NFR Moh. Jamshed (open line) and H.K.Jashni (Construction) would come for inspection of the railway track in the last days of October. However, on the basis of the reports of the GM’s on the railway track, the high official of the NFR would come for inspection to start the railway service in the Silchar-Lumding track. It is to be mentioned here that it is very quintessential to start the passenger trains between Silchar – Agartala without any hurdles.

As, until and unless train service starts between Silchar – Lumding, Tripura cannot make its entry in railway map of the country. Hence it is important to start train service between Silchar – Lumding.

Earlier in a meeting on behalf of railway it was proposed to start the service with two trains. The Kanchanjunga express which runs between Sheladh – Guwahati will start service from Silchar – Sheldah. Besides another train service between Silchar – Marianee was also proposed, the civil society in the meeting also demanded local trains including super fast train. Demand for Silchar – Diburgarh train instead of Silchar – Marianee train was also placed. They demanded the connection of Silchar with Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai.

Indian Railways connectivity in India’s north eastern region will get boost with the launch of the first ever broad gauge passenger trains to Tripura. The latest trend of work at Agartala railway station shows that days are not so far when people of Tripura can travel long distances in BG trains and get connected to rest of the part of the country.

The train service is already suspended from September 20 until the conversion is ended. The service will remain suspended during the construction work and laying BG tracks replacing the meter gauge.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.
