KAILASHAHAR, Oct 28 (TIWN): Despite of several tall claims to make Tripura 100 percent literate, education system in the state is turning pathetic day by day.
Reportedly, some schools lack adequate numbers of teachers, in some schools students are maintaining their attendance under open roof.
Similarly, Emra Passa High School of Kumarghat Sub-division is in deplorable condition for prolonged one and half year.
Due to the poor condition of the school 273 students had continue their education in the nearby huts as they are left with no other option.
According to the locals, the school suffers due to poor infrastructure, irregular mid-day meal. It lacks learning material, proper libraries etc.
Reportedly, before 2-year the school building was built spending Rs. 15 Lakhs.
Locals said that one and half year ago, storm has blown away the roof of the stair case.
Head Master of the school has placed demands for several times to the School Inspector and the District Education Officer but till day no initiative has been taken. Finding no other option, the students are continuing their classes in the nearby huts.
Our ministers claim that, schools are supposed to be the temples of learning, but the average primary educational institution in rural Tripura are being deprived from proper guidance of the teachers.
However, for prolonged one and half year a lock is hanging on the gates of the school.
Though, the State Education department had drawn up several plans and policies to make the state 100 percent literate, but they are failing to achieve their targets and goals due to lack of attention to the education sector.
The government is spending a large amount of budget in providing free education to the poor and needy but what these kids are getting is of no use.
