AGARTALA/GANDECHERRA, Oct 16 (TIWN): The malaria outbreak at Gandecherra under Dhallai district of Tripura is now under control, says Gandecherra SDM Bhaskar Dasgupta.

However, about 60 persons are still being detected with the disease and are undergoing treatment but the situation which went out of control is improved with the help of volunteers who worked alongside official teams in affected areas. There is no fresh report of malaria death till the date, confirms Gandecherra SDM Bhaskar Dasgupta.

SDM Bhaskar Dasgupta also said that the health department has already started organizing health camps in interior areas to put a curb on the malaria cases. The administration is keeping close eye on the situation aftermath of malaria cases and steps are being taken to lift malaria patients from the affected areas, he said. More over the ASHA workers are also asked to conduct door to door visit in the affected villages and ensure proper treatment to the patients if affected with malaria.

Kalyansinghpara, Bhagirathpara and Jagabandhupara areas are most affected by the malaria case, said SDM Bhaskar Dasgupta

It is to be mentioned that this campaign will continue for longer in particular places which are the most crucial area and were highly affected with the malaria debacle previous year.

Dominance of Malaria comparing to previous year is low due to timely spraying of DDTs in the houses and localities, deploy of sufficient health workers comprising of ASHA workers, MPWs and others, creating awareness among the people for adopting the safety hygiene measures, to maintain cleanliness, all this measures has slightly helped in declining the debacle of malaria in the sub-division, but still in the wake of preventing the spread of the malaria and Dengue in the villages the authority has taken the step of awareness camp.

Since many tribal populations do not complete the full course of drugs, malaria become drug resistant and once a mosquito bites them, it can infect others. Many malaria cases are reported even in winter because of this phenomenon. As this season is peak season for jhum cultivation the tribals’ are toiling in fields that are swarmed with mosquitoes on their bodies, hence they are susceptible to mosquito bites

It is to be mentioned here that with the recent outbreak of malaria panic has started to grip the people living in Gandacherra and nearby areas. Only a few months ago more than many people died across the state due to malaria attack. And again the disease started to raise panic
