As a result the importance of the NEC roads also increased far more and now vehicles used to ply on NEC roads up to Kumarghat, Kailasahar at one side and up to Khowai, Agartala from Kamalpur almost 24X7. The PWD(R&B) also arranged for keeping those roads smooth and fine by issuing works to contractors almost throughout the year. But even after spending of crores of rupees, the condition of the roads not changed very much.

Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road stretched for almost 110 kilometres is in very poor condition especially the parts under the Kamalpur division of PWD(R&B). Pot holes and ditches covered the entire width of this narrow road. Even the bridges on the road got weakened and cracked. But every year, some contractors pocketed huge money from works on this road. Still the authority remained reluctant and mysteriously numbed up to remedy the situation.
