AGARTALA, Oct 14 (TIWN): Inaugurating the Cultural program on the occasion of the Rabindra-Nazrul-Sukanta jayanti at Sukanta Academy, Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik said that cultural program is necessary to bind the people with each other.

Large number of contestants from different age groups participated in the program on songs and dances on Rabindranath- Nazrul- Sukanta including Art, recitation, tabla, etc. songs, dances and dramas were performed by the local and guest artists.

Addressing the program Minister Ratan Bhowmik also said that Dance and music is a very important part of our culture. People get engage in dancing and singing very frequently on a variety of occasions like religious festivals, social occasions, and cultural programs conducted by big institutions like schools, and clubs.

Dance and Music is not just for entertainment in an ancient India. It is a part of life. Music is made to praise the lord and god. Any festivals begin with Music and ends with Music. Music and Dance was a way of life and so many music generations are proving that every day, added Minister Bhowmik.

The function was inaugurated with a song on the great legends just after the garlanding of the portraits of Rabindra-Nazrul-Sukanta, along with lighting of the traditional lamp.
