AGARTALA, October 5 (TIWN): A woman has been referred to GB Hospital after she had put herself on fire on Sunday.

The woman has been identified Minakshi Debnath, residence of Santir Bazaar Block Tilla. She is the wife of Mithun Debnath and has a child of 2-year old.

Santir Bazaar police on Sunday said that according to the husband’s statement Minakshi Debnath put herself on fire. Mithun Debnath was outside playing with their child when she put herself on fire.

He further said that hearing her scream he immediately went inside the house and tried to bring the fire under control.

Getting alarm about the incident Santir Bazaar Police rushed to the spot and recovered the victim.

Police said that her condition was so critical that she has been referred to the GB Hospital. Police has arrested the husband and further investigating the case.

However, on one hand where the State Government claims that the crime against women is decreasing day by day, on the other hand every after now and then an untoward incidents of women are coming up. These highlights that how much the women in the State are secure in the broad day light itself.
