KAILASHAHAR, July 27 (TIWN): With the onset of rainy season, the Kailashahar-Photikcherra road has once again transformed to its pathetic condition, after the embankment of the Monu River collapsed down.
This route connects Kailashahar and Photikcherra and an important life line for Kumarghat sub-division.
It is one major spot where, each year, travellers experience the road’s terrible condition. Since the roads remain deplorable for prolonged days, travellers frequently face untold problems, claimed the locals.
To add to the woes, continues rains make it so slippery that it tests the nerves of drivers to the limit. Sometimes vehicles get bogged down in the river bed’s slippery soil. Even the embankment of the river has collapsed creating a dangerous situation for the pedestrians and the vehicle riders
Few days back, a bike rider slipped in to the river which has lead fear among the locals.
Flash floods occur during heavy rains making it dangerous for vehicles to cross the river. There have been instances when vehicles were even washed downstream.
"The road is in a very deplorable state and the condition becomes pathetic during the rainy season. It get filled with water and it becomes very difficult to move on the waterlogged streets", said a local
The terrible road condition has also poses tremendous dangers to pedestrians and locals who live on either side of the road. On many occasions, pedestrians have reportedly been injured with stone chips hitting them, as vehicles pass by.
“We have written several letters to the Panchayet regarding repair of the roads but it has proved futile", said a local
Several potholes have formed on the internal street and it becomes very difficult for two-wheeler riders to ride. However, the road has not been repaired despite several complaints of local people but till the no response has been yield.
