AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): Asking the State Government to look into the different problems of the Anganwadi workers and CHG including issues of home guards and the pension issues in different sectors by August 15, Indian Confederation of Labour (ICL) on Sunday decided to launch agitation by September 15, confirmed ICL President Ajoy Biswas in a press conference at TRTC complex.
“If our demands are not heeded by the State government by then, we will decide our next course of democratic agitation at a meeting to be held after the deadline,” said ICL President Ajoy Biswas. The main demand of the ICL is to enforce pension gratuity, provident fun, and life insurance, etc facility for the Anganwadi workers and CHG, A.L Teachers and PTI Teachers.
They also complained that after 60 years when the Anganwadi workers are retired from their post they had to say good bye to the post without pension or provident fund or any life insurance.
The committee also demanded to increase the allowances of the Aganwadi workers which have been discontinued for many years. They also stated that if the allowance of the state government increases, the allowance of the home guard also increases.
They also complained that the allowance of the ordinary state government employees increases but the state government is least bothered about the allowances of the home guards.
Speaking at the press conference on Sunday, members of the committee alleged that despite the promises made by the State chief secretary, the demands were not fulfilled yet.
“The Anganwadi workers play a major role in the development of the health and education in the state”, said President Biswas. Therefore, the state government should play keen eyes towards the workers and the home guards, added.
However, the committee decided that if the issues of home guards and the pension issues in different sectors by August 15 the Indian Confederation of Labour will to launch agitation by September 15 in front of the CM house.
