KHOWAI, July 18 (TIWN): 3 accused were produced before Khowai SDJM court on Saturday in allegation of smuggling contraband goods across the border.
In a bizarre incident, a total of 30 women nabbed 3 anti-social miscreants from Khowai office tilla Ghosh para area on Friday night.
The accused miscreants’ are identified as Bijan Debbarma, Sukhesh Debbarma, and Ramen Debbarma.
Reportedly, the incident took place when the three miscreants were heading towards their destination in bike and suspicion grew among the women regarding the issue that the youths were smuggling contraband goods for their consumption and selling to other people of the area.
Acting on the tip of a secret plan the woman set their trap and accordingly on Friday late evening like all other day while the miscreants were heading towards their destination a gang of 30 women caught hold of the three miscreants and beaten them up out of furry.
A woman stated that for past many days these three boys were smuggling contraband goods across the border and as well as selling it among the local public. All the women had planned that they will nab the miscreants and will hand them over to the Khowai police.
Getting alarm the Khowai police led by Khowai SI Ranjit Debbarma and SDPO Rajiv Sengupta reached the spot. After proper investigation the police recovered huge amount of corex, tablets and phensydyl from their bags and seized the items.
The contraband items including cough syrup are being smuggled by packing them into cartons, apart they are also being sold among the public for their consumption.
The women stated that consumption of contraband goods has resulted in disruption of peace and tranquility of the area.
However, after long clash between the miscreants’ and the women, khowai police arrested the 3 accused and expressed their gratitude towards the women for doing such brave act for curbing the crime of smuggling.
