AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Corruption stained Forest Officer Prabir Bhattacharjee managed to get an easy escape from a stern action over the vigilance report filed against him which proved massive financial loot by him. Besides Bhattacharjee who still maintains luxury livelihood status near Melarmath is found to be the close aide of BSNL authority here in Agartala.Despite the issue of acquiring BSNL land illegally and had built a multi-storied building were carried to the BSNL authority, no action has been taken yet against Bhattacharjee.BSNL did not take any action to vacate the land illegally occupied by Bhattacharjee and three other retired employees of BSNL for past many years despite being advised and asked by the District administration.Besides stained with corruption tag, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Prabir Bhattacharjee continues to live his luxury life in his multi-storied building on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom. However, it worthy to mention here that even after several allegations raised against CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee and despite the vigilance report was imposed on him by the then State Chief Secretary G. Kameshwar Rao, the state government has been found reluctant to act against Prabir.

According to the highly placed source the CPI-M top cadres at Melarmath is acting as  backbone of Prabir, on a spree to rescue him from the vigilance report which was attempted to be influenced by Prabir earlier. Cunning Prabir hired one former journalist, who is also an owner of  event management company to lobby   to CM and other high officials so that Govt. never initiates any action.

It was learnt that the vigilance report was filed after conducting the investigation against CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee and his corrupt friends Debashish Chakroborty, Sanaton Talukdar (PCCF). Later finding the massive loot took place under the state forest department, the then State Chief Secretary G. Kameshwar Rao ordered for a vigilance investigation against all the 8 forest officers.

It was alleged that the forest officers are engaged selling the jobs under forest department. Bhattacharjee is known most cunning among all other accused and also is the backbone of all nefarious activities in the department.

Allegedly, he has tried at several times to prevent the vigilance enquiry instituted against them about seven months ago.

Besides, after exposure of serious corruption charges and illegally acquiring the land of BSNL here in Tripura to get rid of punishment, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Tripura Prabir Bhattacharjee in connivance with a top official of BSNL Tripura SSA and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) attempted to manipulate the entire land record where Bhattacharjee built a double storied house on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom.

The allegation includes illegal building of house on BSNL land in Agartala, disproportionate asset from known sources of income, appointing forest guards in exchange of money by manipulating the process, taking money from field level officers allocated for raising of forest, misappropriation of public fund, illegal logging permit and womanizing activities openly in the office chamber.
