AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): The ruling CPI-M party here in Tripura on yet another historical victory by a huge margin has won both the 13-Pratapgarh and the 46-Surma constituencies in recently concluded By-polls. However, this has brought another majot setback for the main opposition party Congress here where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is known to be India’s biggest political party is being distant to second position and had left the ruling CPI-M here under heavy pressure.
The emergence of the BJP here in Tripura with the growing support of the common masses of the state has worried the CPI-M. CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar on Tuesday addressing the press conference just after the vote counting for two SC constituencies ended said, “The BJP needs to be removed from Tripura by any means for the sake of the common mass of the state.”
However, expressing concern over the growing support of the BJP Dhar said, “The CPI-M would move forward with its political struggle all across to battle down the BJP.”
Besides, it is worthy to mention here that talking to TIWN on Tuesday in this regard BJP state president Sudhindra Das Gupta expresses, “We the BJP have an aim to set up our party here as a the main opposition battling down the congress which had failed to play active against the ruling CPI-M here in Tripura.”
He also said, “The 2018 lok sabha election would answer this that how the BJP can and has brought a major change here in the state for the sake of the people of the state who are deprived at large under the regime of the CPI-M.”
However, later talking to the reporters here at the party head quarter Bijan Dhar said, “The Congress and its wing here in Tripura was never there in the battle field this time rather they were busy voicing against the CPI-M at Delhi skipping all the election works.”
Besides, criticising the BJP led NDA government at the center Dhar on Tuesday announced that the CPI-M would launch country-wide protest against the anti-people policy of the government at the center. “The agitation would kick start from August 1 and would continue till August 20,” Dhar announcing said that the CPI-M would press for six points charter of demands with the central government.
Dhar said that the demand includes non-reduction of funds under the rural development schemes, MGNREGA schemes, and also under the agricultural schemes. Briefing the demands Dhar said, “The CPI-M would press the central government to withdraw the anti-farmer policy and the land bill and also to retain the special category tag.”
Adding to that he said the anti-people policy adopted by the Modi Government at the center is a very dangerous move which would ultimately effect the common masses of the nation at large.
