AGARTALA, May 26 (TIWN): Villagers of Bishalgarh- Boxanagar area on Tuesday staged road blockade at Bishalgarh- Boxanagar. The blockade is organized at Indira Chowhumani demanding mass protest for proper drinking water facility, electricity. However as a result of the protest, daily passengers succumbed to suffer into the blockade. Long-route buses and other vehicles stand on both sides of the road
According to the locals, no water supply facilities are available in the locality for long period. As a result they face acute drinking water crisis especially in the dry spell. Above 90 percent of the residents are dependent on agriculture for livelihood. But no water supply facilities has been offered to them by the concerned authority despite several requests, said a local.
The residents including Nakul Roy, Rakhal Majumder, Milan Roy of the area alleged that due to poor electricity connection, the area is under the grip of low voltage from long time. We cannot watch TV properly and our children face troubles while they read in the evening only because of low voltage, said the locals. Though the street lights were offered in the same locality but most of them are now damaged.
Though the state people are passing away through the ‘golden era’, but allegedly there are many areas like Bishalgarh, Boxanagar, where the people are being deprived to get the basic amenities by the state government.
The State Government, by neglecting the important sectors like health, education, electricity, drinking water etc was busy in dirty politics. At present from minister to CPIM party workers remain deep necked in corruption. CPIM government over issues of spurious drug, atrocities against women, corruption, malfunctioning of PDS, chit fund, deterioration of law and order, underdevelopment of tribal people and deprivation of employees during the agitation. The tightlipped gesture of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the increasing crimes and vowed to intensify party’s agitation across the state. He also urged the public to condemn the role of Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio.
The uninterrupted 21year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura who eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development.
