AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): The Sub-Âdivisional Magistrate Court (SDJM) Somanura on Monday sent all the Twenty five Myanmar nationals to Jail Custody (JC) for three months. Out of the 25 Myanmar nationals six are men, six are women and 13 are children, said police.
Earlier, Twenty five Myanmar nationals were arrested from Indira Nagar under Melagarh Police Station on Saturday in connection with the insurgents group.
It is to be mentioned here that last year the Border Liaison officers from India and Myanmar organized a meeting at Nanyon in Myanmar over various cross-border issues.
The delegates agreed to share real time intelligence on activities of insurgents, arms smugglers, drug traffickers and poachers as well as increase co-operation between the law enforcement agencies of both the countries at the district level along the international border.
The Indian side shared specific information about the reinforcement of insurgent groups like NSCN (K) and NSCN (IM) in the area and amplification of their activities by working with ULFA and other Indian insurgent groups.
Discussing about the insurgent activities operating along Indo-Myanmar border, the Indian officials expressed concern over involvement of citizens across the border in smuggling narcotics like opium and urged the Myanmarese counterpart to take action.
The Myanmarese agreed to put in place a mechanism to curb infiltration from their side and also extend co-operation for arrest of the culprit at the earliest.
They added that planning was being done to connect the inaccessible areas with road communication which would help reduce the use of the areas by insurgent groups.
