Agartala, Sep3, (TIWN) Life-term prisoners from Kamalpur Correctional Home staged the drama ‘Bisarjan’, written by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore within the jail premises. The drama was organized with the joint initiative of Kamalpur Sub Divisional Administration and jail authority.
After a month of rehearsal, a total of 9 jail inmates performed the drama directed by Debopam Roy. Prabir Debroy played the role of royal scion of Tripura Govinda Manikya. Besides, Bibhu Bhattacharya enacted the role of Raghupati, the head priest, whereas, the characters of Nakshatra Roy was played by Sushanta Saha, Joy Singh by Kartik Saha and the other characters by various inmates. When asked, Debopam said that the plan of including women characters in the drama was cancelled due to unavailability of women characters.
On the other hand, the performers, who were alsojail inmates, expressed the importance of provision of entertainment inside the jail. Sub Divisional Magistrate Rakhi Biswas and MLA Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha showered loads of praise for the performers.
