AGARTALA, February 16 (TIWN): Pakistan is making huge numbers of Indian fake notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 and those are being smuggled to India via Bangladesh.

According to sources, Pakistan is smuggling these fake notes to Tripura via Bangladesh through Sonamura, Khowai, Kailashahar and Sadar sub-division.
The sources further added that Pakistan is giving a commission of 30 to 40 percentage to the fake note dealers. Pakistan is also providing these fake Indian notes to the dealers in exchange of supplying narcotics products.
It is to be mentioned here that a consignment of forged Indian currency notes of Rs 2 crore was recovered at Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, here this month. And in this connection five men were arrested.
Acting on a tipped-off, a team of customs intelligence searched the airport's cargo section and recovered the forged Indian currencies.
Among the five arrested men two were from Bangladesh and three were from Pakistan.
It is also to be mentioned here that during interrogation they said that not only fake Indian notes they were also engaged in smuggling of Pakistan and China made pistols to India.
Bangladesh has also expelled a Pakistani diplomat posted at the high commission in Dhaka for allegedly running an operation to smuggle fake currency across the border to undermine India's financial system and fund terrorist groups.
It may be recalled that in the middle of last year, two senior Pakistani diplomats were expelled from Sri Lanka on charges of aiding terror groups in south India that had plans to target the US and Israeli consulates.
