AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman brought a serious charge against BJP-led State Govt in Tripura of embezzling a large amount from the total fund of Rs. 477.89 crores that was sanctioned by the central government for NHIDCL. Explaining the nature of the alleged corruption, the Congress MLA told media, “Matabari to Sabroom National Highway and Drain construction drew Rs. 497.89 crores fund from the central government. The project initially was given to NHIDCL, and later it was given to a private company named Oriental Structural Engineer Lmt. Whereas RTI report shows that drains beside the road were also completed with two types of structures – V-type and normal line drain but field verification says there is no sign of any drain at Matabari-Sabroom road.”
“It has been claimed that 25.374 kilometers of V-type drain was constructed, and line drain 0.250 kilometers was completed. I’ll definitely try to find out where those drains are located,” Barman said.
“This is the reality of the government. Corruption has gripped its roots, but everything is operated with money exchanges. It does not matter if the drains are made or not, but they can show the bill and take out the money… kind of paisa feko, tamasa dekho….people will answer to such activities of the government which is looting public fund,” added Barman.
