AGARTALA, March 8 (TIWN): Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, who is often known for his bold remarks against the ruling party top leaders, and recently showed middle finger in the assembly in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, now expressed his confusion over BJP’s two years regime completion’s celebration's significantion. On Saturday journalists asked Barman regarding his overall impression on the BJP Govt, as the party and the government both are celebrating its second anniversary, Barman responded saying, “First of all, I am not sure if it’s BJP’s two years or seven years anniversary. As per my best knowledge it should be BJP’s seven years of celebration.”
Barman’s remark came as BJP excluded former controversial CM Biplab Deb from the post in May 2022 at the peak of the 2023 Assembly election. Before that, Barman was also a member of the BJP Govt’s cabinet and he alleged, that he faced difficulties functioning independently under Biplab Deb which led him to quit the BJP and come back to Congress. At that time, the BJP blamed Barman for creating divisions within the party.
Now it’s Barman’s time and he did not leave the opportunity to hammer on BJP on this issue, as the BJP even after sacking Biplab Deb from the CM post, is still reeling under infighting.
However, Barman’s point this time was targeted at the incumbent Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accusing him of doing “self-worshiping” by conducting two-year celebrations, instead of seven years.
“I am not even saying, they do not have unity. But, it seems like this is not BJP’s celebration. It’s worshipping of CM Dr. Manik Saha. It’s a celebration of CM’s personification,” added Barman.
