AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): BJP has lost control over a Panchayat after Panchayat Pradhan was impeached by the majority of the Panchayat members. In Gaurnagar Block’s Nurput Panchayat, BJP had five members and Congress had four members. BJP leader Laila Begum was elected as the Panchayat Pradhan. Recently, all the Congress members and one BJP member turned a No-Trust motion against Laila Begum. It happened before three months and as per the preannouncement, today the motion was brought in presence of BDO.
Total of four Congress members and four BJP members attended the office today whereas one BJP member Irfan Ali remained absent.
Out of eight attendees, Congress’s Runu Mia, Alia Begum, Manoara Begum, Selima Begim and BJP’s Anita Singha voted against the Panchayat Pradhan Laila Begum. Automatically, the Panchayat Pradhan was disqualified and BJP lost control of the Panchayat.
