AGARTALA, June 20 (TIWN): Tripura degree colleges’ guest lecturers have demanded regularization after working for many years on contract basis.
The lecturers said, they are around 300 in numbers who are working in colleges in contract.
“We are running the degree colleges but the government has no concern about us. We only get Rs. 500 per class and annually around 70 classes we get which gives us only Rs. 35,000. How can a person survive with Rs. 35,000 ?” said an agitating college lecturer.
“Even after our much efforts we have to appear in examinations every year. There is no guarantee whether our jobs will be extended or not. In this situation, we struggle to survive every day,” he said.
“With this little earning, we cannot afford out transportation too. We urge the government to regularize and save us along with the education system,” he added.
“Various states including Punjab, West Bengal, and Assam have regularized the lecturers. We request the Tripura government to do the same,” he said.
A deputation was placed to the higher education director in this regard.
