AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): A suspected Brown Sugar dealer was arrested by Police in the Capital City Agartala. The arrested person has been identified as Samir Acharjee. West Agartala Police lodged an NDPS case against him and to produce him before the Court. The seized narcotic items would be worth at least Rs. 50,000. SDPO Asish Dasgupta said the raid was held in Corporation area of Lake Chowmuhani, Agartala after police received secret information.
Drug abuse has turned into a major issue in this state Tripura. AIDS disease spread and Drug addictions are rising by competing with each other. Even after many seizures, the drug-peddling remains uncontrolled.
Political nexus with Drug dealing has turned a matter of major concern amid Chief Minister Manik Saha’s announcement on Zero-Tolerance against Drug-Dealing.
