AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Govt of Tripura on Saturday night successfully evacuated students from Manipur, the state that has been suffering due to violence. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury received the students at Agartala MBB Airport. Students and parents have thanked Tripura Govt for the initiative taken to safely bring back the students. Ahead of the evacuation, Tripura CM Manik Saha held a press meet explaining what are the steps Govt has taken since day-1 of Manipur tension.CM stated, not only the Govt contacted the Central Govt and Manipur Govt but collected phone numbers of the students, although it was very tough to contact the students due to network issues, internet issues in Manipur.

CM said, a flight will evacuate all students and Tripura govt will bear the expenditure.

CM Saha said it has been risky to move the students because the moment students will go out of their place to Airport, there might be threat on the road, although security is there and Tripura’s securities are also deployed there. But for the parents’ appeal, Govt decided to bring back each student from there.

DGP has said that Govt is also monitoring internet / social media posts so that no negative propaganda can spread further panic.
