AGARTALA, March 26 (TIWN): One year ahead of Lok Sabha Election, Indian top opposition politician Rahul Gandhi’s political downfall has shaken not only the nation but hit across the globe. The Congress is holding a day-long satyagraha across the country today to protest party leader Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a defamation case. State Tripura’s Congress unit has staged a protest in Agartala in front of the Gandhi statue on Sunday. Talking to media, Congress leader Asish Saha said that the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi was an intrigue by Modi Govt to insult Rahul Gandhi as the BJP became afraid to see rising popularity of Rahul Gandhi.
Saha said, the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament was “unconstitutional”.
“When Rahul Gandhi started his Bharat-Jodo yatra, people extended massive support to him. There were huge attempts taken by Modi Govt to stop the movement but Modi Govt failed. Now to suppress the voice of Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament this move was taken stopping him from contesting Election for 8 years. We condemn it. Congress workers will go ahead on Rahul Gandhi’s shown path and no intrigue can stop Rahul Gandhi”, said Asish Saha.
