AGARTALA, March 5 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Saturday criticized police for not arresting BJP miscreants and anti-social elements who are celebrating victory in intoxicated state, play DJ whole night and attacking the opposition houses. In a press meeting, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, “Over 500 persons have been physically attacked and more around 600 houses vandalized, set on fire since the result was declared on 2nd March. Many houses were fully burnt into ashes, but police are not arresting a single miscreant. Because of the culture of violence BJP started since 2018, BJP's vote bank has decreased”. However, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha in a statement commented that over 200 persons have been arrested statewide and no party’s miscreant will be spared. BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee blamed opposition for provoking and asked BJP workers to refrain from violence.
Jitendra Chowdhury added, "CM Manik Saha is saying criminals will not be spared but why is not he clarifying, who are the criminals ?"
Statewide massive violence has been reported and from ruling party to the opposition all families are being attacked as a part of post result violence row.
Nevertheless, police claimed maximum allegations are “rumours” and not facts.
