AGARTALA, Dec 13 (TIWN): Rapist sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a minor in Ambasa. Reportedly, in August 2021, a minor girl went to fetch cows in Balaram area under Ambasa PS, she was forcibly raped by Saptham Marak. After the incident the minor's father filed a case at Ambassa PS, the police of Ambasa PS immediately arrested the accused Saptam Marak based on the complaint.

After a long investigation, the police of Ambasa police station filed a charge sheet in the Dhalai District court. The Dhalai District Court announced its verdict on Tuesday after taking the testimony of 19 people.

Dhalai District Court Judge Gautam Sarkar sentenced accused Saptam Marak to life imprisonment under POSCO Act and a fine of Rs 30,000
