AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): Reportedly, Durganagar area of Ward No. 1 of Goldharpur Gram Panchayat under Gaurnagar block has been facing drinking water problems for a long time. Locals brought the matter to the attention of the Panchayat members several times, but nothing was done.

About 25 families of Durganagar area are completely deprived of clean drinking water. Even if one to two buckets of water reaches the area at the end of the day, it is unfit for consumption. Residents of Durganagar area have to collect drinking water from far away.

The deputation providers complained that although assurances have been given from the elected representatives that the matter would be solved but nothing has been done.

The women of the area came to the Goldharpur village Panchayat office on Tuesday and gave a deputation to the Panchayat secretary and chief to demand a solution to this long-standing problem.

Heera Sinha, head of the Gram Panchayat admitted this allegation, he said such problems are not occurring in Ward No-1 it is happening in entire Goldharpur Gram Panchayat area. Some unscrupulous citizens are illegally stealing water by attaching motors to drinking water connections. Raid was conducted at several places and seized illegal water connections and motors, but this problem arose again.

Within a few days, the problem will be resolved and a new pipeline will be installed to supply water, assured the locals.
