AGARTALA, Nov 14 (TIWN): Local people of Charilam had locked the main gate of Charilam Block office alleging corruption in road construction and immediate relief from the miserable road condition which have turned their lives terrible disrupting daily vehicle movements. BJP Govt in 2018, July, 4 months after assuming power started increasing road tax, VAT promising regular road maintenance. Crores of public funds were collected but what happened to the fund, reports are clueless. Such outcomes are causing everyday road blockades across Tripura. According to locals who were agitating at Charilam, they are suffering for 40 years due to the pathetic road condition. “We are not from any political party. Today this party will promise us about solution, tomorrow another party but nobody could do it. We want solution, no political promises”, said an agitating local woman.
“We need safety for our children. Accidents are on rise. Even vehicles are not going anymore by this road. So we want immediate solution of road issue. Enough we waited but no more we can wait”, said the local woman named Minati Das.
“Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma must clearly tell us whether our problems will be solved or not. Let him give a statement”, she said mentioning the Deputy CM as he is the local MLA of the area.
