AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): Police volunteers continue to protest demanding their honorarium which is only Rs. 1,000.

On Friday, the agitating youths raised question, what happened to the fund which was allocated for them?

The deprived youths said they are bound to work at such a low salary because they are under severe problems but still the Govt is not responding to their pleas.

“At first, we expected Rs. 11,000 we would get but now, forget about Rs. 10,000 extra but minimum honorarium of Rs. 1,000 is not received”, said the youths.

The police volunteers told media that they are roaming from door to door. From DM office to SP office but their pending amount is not being cleared, whereas they are working with best efforts.

“We used our own money to work for the police stations. But now for 16 months, we are not getting our deserved salaries”, an agitating girl alleged.

“You can understand at what state we were bound to do such a job at low cost. We are not demanding extra. We demand what is our right”, said the police volunteers.

The Police volunteers were recruited in 2020 by the then Biplab Deb-led Home Dept but now for the last 15 to 16 months the youths remained unpaid.
