BELONIA, July 21 (TIWN): By drumming about “Quality Education” many schools in Tripura were converted into English medium schools but the change was only for a show-off and practically quality of education deteriorated due to teachers’ crisis and infrastructure crisis. Talking to the teachers in Belonia Abhonagar H/S School, one of the teachers said, “I am a teacher here for the last 4 years. Just before 15 days, our Headmaster was transferred. Now English Medium school was added with the 1-5 (Primary) classes. Total 60 students are there in the primary level classes and in upper primary that is from Class-6 to Class-12 there are 270 students who are enrolled. But only 14 teachers are in total appointed and in primary section only 1 teacher, which is an English Medium".
“Also the school suffers from Infrastructure related problems. The buildings need renovation and new classrooms. Theft incidents in the school are rising and recently a projector was stolen”, said the teacher.
The teacher requested the Govt to appoint more numbers of teachers to the school.
Tripura has over 20,000 vacant posts of teachers amid more than 3,500 TET qualified candidates are jobless.
