PANISAGAR, July 20 (TIWN): Teachers’ drought has hit Tripura school education system and everyday protests are happening across Tripura demanding more teachers in school. In such a pathetic condition of a school, it was observed that only two Teachers are appointed in Deochara HS School, Panisagar and one of them is not regular and surprising fact, the school is a Higher Secondary school. On being asked, students said, “We only come to the school every and then eat and sleep”. Guardians also protested asking why can’t the Govt recruit the unemployed qualified candidates. “We want sufficient numbers of teachers in this school. How can 2 teachers manage the entire school. Lots of youths are passed out but not getting jobs. If Govt wants, it can appoint them. We want teachers in this school”, said the guardians’ group present in the school.

Reportedly, there are 239 students in the school and only 2 teachers.

“How can two teachers give proper education in such a big school. Roll calls by two teachers take 2 hours in all classes. We can’t blame the teachers also. It is Govt’s responsibility to recruit teachers”, said the agitating parents.

Tripura right now has over 3,500 qualified TET candidates amid at least more than 20,000 posts are vacant. After 10323 teachers’ termination, the vacant post has crossed 30,000.
