Questions are repeatedly being asked, why the Department is not recruiting teachers, even after having sufficient numbers of qualified candidates. On Saturday Umakanta Bengali Medium school students and guardians protested against teachers’ crisis and the transfer of a dynamic teacher named Jhalak Dey. The guardians demanded more than 9 teachers should be appointed to tackle the teachers’ crisis. In protest, a road blockade was held and later parents and students gheraoed the Education Dept demanding withdrawal of the teacher’s transfer.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath who assured to recruit 14,000 teachers now escaping from media to answer this question. Over 20000 vacant posts are in teaching posts and more than 3000 TET qualified are unemployed, but BJP led State Govt which before the Assembly Election 2018 promised to give 50,000 Govt jobs in a year is now failing to give 3000 jobs to qualified teaching candidates.
