AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): A thief, who was accused of stealing cash, expensive items including gold chains from various houses, was handed over to the police by the locals. The incident took place on Friday in Jarulong Bari area under Teliamura police station.

Reportedly, burglary is taking place one after another in Jaruilong Bari area under Teliamura PS. Allegedly, thieves have been stealing gold ornaments, mobile phones and other furniture from public’s house. On Thursday night, a mobile phone with gold ornaments was stolen from a house of a householder in Jarulong Bari area in the dark of night.

On Friday morning, the locals arrested a youth named Jitu Debbarma from the same area based on suspicion and after interrogation he admitted that all the theft incidents happened in the area were done by him.

After his confession, the locals informed the police of Teliamura PS, the Police went to the spot, arrested Jitu Debbarma and brought him to Teliamura PS.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the stolen items have not been found yet.
