AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Fire burnt a house to ashes in East Sonatala Colony area at Khowai. The incident took place around 9 am on Tuesday at Krishna Kanda's house.

A young man was accused of setting fire to the house of Krishna Kanda, a resident of the area.

The sabotage fire incident occurred in absence of family members today morning.

All the furniture inside the house were burnt to ashes before the Fire Brigade engine arrived. The day laborer's family has become completely destitute due to the fire incident and the damage amount is more than lakhs of rupees.

Krishna Kanda’s daughter saw a young man had set fire in the house by covering face with handkerchief, and while she chased behind him the man showing sharp weapon fled away.

Later, fire department rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Centering the incident, tension generated in the area.

Cases have been filed on specific allegations but no news of arrest was reported.
