Agartala, Dec 15 (TIWN): Tamil Nadu based Rajib Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) hosted a training of trainers on social entrepreneurship with the supports of Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS)at Voluntary Health Association near Circuit House, here today. The training programme was inaugurated by the Tripura Rural Development and Forest Minister- Naresh Jamatia while the programme was presided over by the Joint Director of Industry and Commerce Department- Himadri Prasad Chowdhury.
With an endeavour to preparing the youths for the new millennium and in the globalized context by engaging in seminal research, developing professional capabilities, network with national and international organizations, catering to the needs and concerns of the young people of the state, RGNIYD today conducted this training programme.
Ultimately, social entrepreneurship is aimed at transformational systems change that tackles the root causes of those issues which have an impact on the development of the society and the nation at large. Entrepreneurial skills are being talked about abundantly but the talks are mostly around ‘technology’ and ‘technical skills’.
The main objectives of the 7-day training programme are; to introduce th3e concepts on social problems and entrepreneurship as process, to motivate students to address social issues in an entrepreneurial way and take up social entrepreneurship as a career option and a means or rural development, to help students to create a list of problems related to their locality which they feel concerned about and desire to do something about them, to narrow down to the most important problem with adequate rationale and to explain the complexities related to the most important problem in the form of problem map.
Besides, DIG of BSF, Gokulnagar- Bhagat Singh Tolia attended the programme as guest of honour while Director of VHAT- Sreelekha Roy, Deputy Director of YAS, West district- Bijan Saha and Assistant Director of YAS- Arindam Ganguly graced the dais as special guests.
