AGARTALA, December 15 (TIWN): "We have already launched a strong movement against the CPIM and discarded the politics of Congress. We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPIM in the next 2018 Assembly elections in this state," said BJP National Vice President Dinesh Sharma.Speaking to the media persons at BJP state head quarter, BJP National Vice President Dinesh Sharma said that the party aims to triple its membership from the current 3.5 crore to 10 crore members across the country. "The party is getting an overwhelming response in its on-going membership drive. In the last one month, the total number of new members have crossed one crore mark while 1.59 crore have been registered through a missed called on the toll free numbers," Sharma mentioned. He criticized the CPIM led state government over issues of spurious-drug, atrocities against women, corruption, malfunctioning of PDS, chit fund, deterioration of law and order, underdevelopment of tribal people and deprivation of employees during the agitation. Sharma also criticized the tight-lipped gesture of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the increasing crimes and vowed to intensify party’s agitation across the state. He also urged the public to condemn the role of Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio. The 21-year misrule has resulted in the state being labeled the least developed state in the country. Corruption has mushroomed in every sphere, he claimed.
He said the party has received extraordinary response in south and north-eastern parts of the country. "In West Bengal, 5 lakh new members have been enrolled in November and over 1.35 lakh members enrolled on November 30 after BJP national president Amit Shah addressed a rally in Kolkata," Sharma said.
Party's membership drive was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 1 and will continue till March 31, 2015. Party has asked senior party leaders to travel every nook and corner of the country to supervise membership enrollment drive, Sharma mentioned.
"The party has organised workshops in 22 States and membership drive has been launched in 25 States so far. The far flung places that are not connected with telecom network, traditional methods are used in enrolling members in the party," he said.
He said the party will also reject all the new members of criminal background or persons of doubtful integrity after thorough scrutiny after the end of the membership drive on March 31, 2015. "The registration of new members would be checked during next two months while training of the new members would be done in June, July and August, 2015," he said.
