UDAIPUR, December 4 (TIWN): Almost all the telephone numbers under BSNL landline services in Gomati District Police have been cut off due to huge pending bills. Though these connections have been cut off for nearly 15 days, SP Gomati Sankar Debnath is yet to take any step in this regard , said a police official. It is to be mentioned here that under Gomati District there 10 police stations covering three subdivisions including District Headquarters Udaipur. Apart from this even the police control room of Gomati District (DIB Gomati) and SP DIB , Woman Police station and other outposts also come under Gomati District Police. A police official told TIWN this morning," Except the land line number of SP Gomati all the land phone numbers were cut off. To avoid the situation, some police stations are now using mobile phones unofficially to tackle law & order problems." But the problem , the official added, is that most of the common people are unaware of these numbers. Further no notification is yet to be given from the SP GOMATI Sankar Debnath through print and electronic media giving the details of the alternative mobile phone numbers to be used.
And naturally people are unable to contact with the concerned police stations in time of emergency.
Speaking to TIWN on this problem Sub Divisional Engineer BSNL, R K Pur SSA, Sajan Bhowmik said," The lines have been disconnected for huge pending bills. At present we cannot help in any way as these problems are now dealt with from the Kolkata office. Unless the bills are paid we can't do anything and not even from Agartala." It is learnt that each police station has pending bills of around Rs 30000/- to Rs 50000/- and even more.
