Court comments on Police biased role to save BJP activists : CPI-M leaders got  bail on 19th December CAA Protest rally incident

AGARTALA, Jan 10 (TIWN): While anticipatory bail of CPI-M leaders was given, a lower court has questioned on police’s role and its biased investigation against opposition activists. Justice Udit Choudhury has commented on police’s activeness to save BJP activists whereas they first attacked in that rally on January 19, 2020. Also court raised question on police’s role during the rally and he termed the total incident a political incident. CPI-M leaders have got bail who were falsely arrested after a rally in Belonia which turned peaceless. Belonia Police had allegedly acted in totally politically biased manner filed a suo-moto case against CPI-M local top leaders, arrested and via court sent them to jail. Reportedly, against total 19 activists (both CPI-M, BJP) FIR was lodged and among them 9 are CPI-M. CPI-M local leader Arup Saha and Pradip Majumder were arrested and sent for 14 days jail custody, now got bail.

CPI-M has demanded to withdraw the alleged fabricated case’s against the party members and a deputation was placed before the SP Jal Singh Meena with details of the incident. Nonetheless, video footage has shown how massive stone pelting injured police officials before the CPI-M’s rally.

 BJP activists led massive attacks in CPI-M’s rally which was organized on Thursday against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has generated violent incidents in Belonia subdivisions of the South Tripura District. Along with nationwide protests, CPI-M in Tripura’s all subdivisions also organized rallies, gatherings but in South Tripura from the beginning BJP didn’t allow a peaceful march and attempted to generate a violence over there. Even after having police permission as soon as CPI-M’s rally reached at Tilla-No-1, suddenly stone pelting started from front by the BJP local activists which left many police officials injured and Police asked the CPI-M to stop rally. CPI-M agitators then returned to the party office and started gathering, public speeches before the Party office but the BJP activists rushed to that spot also and due to massive disruptions, the gathering was closed and the programme was cancelled. Belonia's a top CPI-M leader said that the allegation of autocracy in the state along with the whole nation once again proven, but CPI-M will not stop protest against undemocratic CAA.

Action demanded against BJP hooligans, although how far actions will be taken it is clear as public lost faith on the administration already, said a CPI-M local leader.

In other subdivisions and Agartala also rallies were conducted. In Agartala, the rally was led by top CPI-M leader, gathered by thousands of people.

Nationally this protest is getting intensified.  Protests staged globally against this dividing law in the secular and democratic country.

Several opposition leaders agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here on Thursday were detained by police. Left leaders including Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Communist Party of India chief D. Raja and Brinda Karat of the CPI-M were also detained at the Mandi House area.
