AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Jan 2 (TIWN): Former MP Jitendra Choudhury, who is CPI-M party’s indigenous wing GMP’s President, a senior CPI-M leader has cited BJP’s autocracy and attacks on free voice with incidents of increasing strikes on media. In 2019, when Jitendra Choudhury was MP, he raised the issue of attacks on media in Tripura in the Parliament also when he took “Daily-Desher-Katha†and “Tripurainfoway.com†media’s names. Today, in the new year evening, during his visit in Tripura Infoway (TIWN) Agartala centre Jitendra Choudhury pointed how the BJP Govt led attacks on Journalists, media have continued the attempts of snatching free voice of the media. Talking to TIWN, Choudhury said, “BJP before the Election brought all top leaders from the centre and when from Prime Minister to all senior leaders, Union Ministers would promise something, people may trust which is very natural but in last 21 months following its tradition did not fulfill any promise. Either at Centre or in states, BJP does not fulfill its promisesâ€.
“Tripura tasted Communist Govt’s good governance and that’s why the difference between good governance and bad governance is visible leading BJP to impose more and more JUMLAs on the public. Indeed, they don’t have any option left except JUMLA”, said Choudhury.

“If BJP continues reign the power, then everything will be destroyed in state. Thus, it started attacking media from the very beginning. The attacks on Tripura infoway is not oneway but it is many sided. How to close the media, how to harass the media persons and even their family members, senior citizens who do not have link with Tripurainfoway also to harass them………this is nothing but fascism”, said the ex-MP.
“Now if we utilize the 21 months of the Govt, public at average are resented on the Govt. The Govt employees don’t have any respect left, but they are bound with pressures. In this situation, I would have to request the fourth pillar of democracy that is media to link all the scattered angers of public and create the situation so that this anti-people, fascist Govt get defeated”, he said.
Jitendra Choudhury further criticized the BJP Govt for hypocrisy like worshipping Ballav Bhai Patel and on the other side destroying the constitution’s foundation of the country.
