AGARTALA, Nov 26 (TIWN): In an inhuman and barbaric way, Police led by West Agartala PS OC-Subrata Chakraborty has imposed lathi-charge on youth Congress activists on the oath-taking day after new Presidents and other members names were issued by Central Youth Congress authority.

The programme was fixed at the Gandhi statue at Circuit House Agartala.

Oath taking programme at Gandhi statue zone was permitted on yesterday by police, where Youth Congress’s newly appointed President and Vice Presidents were to take oath today but suddenly ahead of the programme, the rally was cancelled by police and when Congress agitated, police started lathi-charge on them.

Congress leader Gopal Roy has called OC-Subrata Chakraborty as the ‘dalal’ (broker) of BJP.

National Youth Congress leaders also were present during the activity of police.

Congress said that it was aimed that Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies should be spread in the true sense and thus Gandhi statue area was selected.

Congress leader Gopal Roy hinted that the party may take legal action against Police’s unconstitutional attitude against opposition rallies.
