NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): A phensedyl carrying vehicle has killed a police officer in Tripura brutally.

The police officer was a sub-inspector appointed in Karamchara PS named Durga Chardra Hrangkhawl.

Today he was paid the last tribute by the State administration and Police headquarter.

The murder took place when the police official was doing his duty honestly after he was informed via his sources about the smuggling racket over Boxonagar road and stopped the vehicle which was in high-speed. The smugglers ran the vehicle (a Swift car) over the police official.

Addressing media, DGP A K Sukla said that this incident can not be mark as an accident only, rather it is an intentional murder.

DGP said, “I am personally very sad because I know that officer personally very well and also during my Karamchara visit, I saw him, met him”. DGP also told media that at least 3 vehicles were used in that crime-episode. 

So far Chief Minister Biplab Deb, who is also the Home Minister did not give any comment after this incident.

The ruling party’s top leaders are involved with this incident and the business is connected with them, said several Tripura based sources.
