AGARTALA, Aug 15 (TIWN): Northeast state Tripura's Governor Ramesh Bais has paid tribute to freedom fighters on 73rd Independence Day, by offering garland and floral tribute to the freedom the freedom fighters at the Post Office Chowmuhani.Bais said that after prolonged fight with British, freedom fighters of our country had succeeded to free our country from the British rule.As a part of the program, Governor also gave floral tribute to Gandhi memorial at Gandhighat. On the occasion of Independence Day, the President of India delivered speech and Address to the Nation. On 15 August, the Prime Minister hoists the Indian flag on the ramparts of the historical site Red Fort in Delhi.Across Tripura celebrations are going on whereas the mainprogramme was held at Assam Rifles ground in Agartala, addressed by CM Biplab Deb. It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent. India won freedom after a hard struggle. On this day our first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled The National Flag at The Red Fort for the first time.
All the people irrespective of their caste, look and creed celebrate this day every year amidst great rejoicing. It is declared a public holiday.
On this day we take a pledge to defend our freedom with all our might.Independence Day is also celebrated in schools and colleges, hospitals and other govt. and non-govt. institutions across the state.The Independence Day is celebrated all over India with great joy.
