AGARTALA, Aug 13 (TIWN): The requested unsanctioned Dhaka-Agartala flight service may be started by December 2019, said Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
While addressing in a Transport Dept programme at Agartala, Roy said by December the new Airport in Agartala will be started and by that time most likely the Dhaka-Agartala flight service also can be started. Govt of Tripura is continuously pushing the Central Govt on this issue.
The Minister said flight crisis has been decreased a little and also will be decreased further when from tomorrow the Delhi-Agartala flight service will start operation.
To mitigate the ongoing flight crisis, Govt of Tripura on June month had requested the SpiceJet airline company to connect Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport under its Dhaka-Guwahati flight service.
In a letter L.H.Darlong, Principal Secretary to the Govt of Tripura has written to Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet regarding this.
The Govt asked the Director to land its flight in the Airport while it’s carrying passengers to Guwahati.
Agartala Airport is the second busiest Airport of Northeast, undoubtedly to bring profits for the SpiceJet.
