AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): BJP Govt in 16 months in Tripura has miserably failed to curb unemployment problems specially in the Govt sectors with failure to fill up 50,000 vacant posts in Govt Departments although it was promised by the then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while publishing BJP’s election memorandum on 11th February, 2018, 7 days before Tripura Assembly Election. Even though Govt is taking initiative for skill development and inspiring entrepreneurship but why Govt failed to fulfill its Vision Document promise of 50,000 Govt jobs in the first one year it could not be explained. The promise of Jaitley has turned just a JUMLA-propaganda before election. The former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley promised Tripura’s 7 laksh unemployed youths that along with year jobs, at least 50,000 Govt jobs will be given only in the first one year of the BJP Govt. But after and 16 months of the Govt, it could not provide even 5,000 jobs which has frustrated the aspirants.

Moreover, Finance Dept has given a pause in recruitment via official letter alleging Tripura has enough numbers of Govt employees.

Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy (CMIE) has revealed its monthly data on Indian state’s unemployment rates, listing Tripura on the top of the list. In compare to last month there is however 3% down in unemployment rate which was 26.6% and this month it stands at 23.3%. Himachal Pradesh emerged in the second position with 19.6% whereas Haryana at 19.5%. CMIE is a database of the financial performance of Indian companies. Annual Reports of individual companies is the principal source of this database.

Moreover, terminations of contractual employees are going on as a daily newspaper has reported more than thousand MGNREGA employees to lose jobs. Recently around thousand NHM employees under contract basis lost their jobs. Earlier mid-day-meal, JICA, health, AMC staffs were terminated.
