AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): While addressing in a result review meeting with school headmasters, Tripura Education Minister Ratanlal Nath claimed that Tripura will become the role-model for quality education. Tripura will not follow any state but other states will follow Tripura. However, Nath’s statement came in contradictory when Tripura Govt arranged special relaxation in teachers’ recruitment when over thousands of TET qualified, B.Ed holders are not appointed but Govt dependent on relaxation of qualification in teachers’ recruitment. Ratanlal Nath said that while referring the revision of No Detention Policy. He said, in case of No Detention Policy, Tripura has not taken decision like other states but it has decided to take exams time to time. The statement came after cabinet took decision to modify No Detention Policy. After cabinet decision on this ground, Ratanlal Nath said, Central Govt has revised No Detention Policy and we the State Govt has decided to frame a rule for that in the cabinet.
Earlier, there was no strict rule to maintain the quality of education but now there will be regular examine of the students. It will not be like passing all students without any development. In Class-5 and Class-8 there should be regular examination. If a student fails, s/he should be additional chance for re-examination”.
This rule is already existing in CBSE schools and now Tripura Govt has taken this rule. Ratanlal Nath also mentioned about the Right to Education that no student can be removed from the schools before completion of elementary education.
Nath also said, “It has been under rule from now all children of Class-5 and Class-8 will be permitted to sit in the annual assessment. Class-5 and Class-8 who secured with minimum qualification will be promoted to the next class that is class-6 and class-9.Headmaster will have special power for relaxation in the criteria of passing marks”.
However, teachers crisis is the major problem which is being faced by students in Government schools.
