AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Tripura E-rickshaw driver’s suicide has shocked the state, affected law and order and police imposed lathi charge on yesterday night on the E-rickshaw drivers at Agartala after they blocked road in Agartala. This incident has dispersed the protesters but injured many. Already opposition parties have demanded immediate license distribution to the tom-tom drivers as they left without livelihood for 4 days after from August 1st tom-tom is banned in Agartala based on an order from the High Court but no alternative livelihood could be arranged by the Govt for them. Infact the tom-tom drivers got 7 months time before banning but due to various intrigues or unknown reason the drivers didn’t get the license. The problem is escalating massively but no solution has come to the ongoing drastic problem about tom-tom drivers’ license.

The issue raised after 49 years old Vivekananda Malakar, resident of Indranagar, tom-tom driver committed suicide after Govt banned tom tom since 3 days.

Tom tom drivers demanded just one month time from the BJP led State Govt after E-rickshaws were banned in the state, but Transport dept to Law dept didn’t bother about the problems although since 3 days state's media houses are updating the Government about tom-tom drivers' problems and pathetic condition. The e-rickshaw drivers were roaming from doors to doors, from Transport Dept to AMC but Govt turned deaf ears.

In a deputation the drivers on yesterday said that they are unable to arrange their food, manage their families and feed their children and wife as tom tom is banned.

They are unable to give the Bandhan loans etc, but Govt failed to give just ONE-MONTH time. Also no alternative livelihood was arranged for the drivers led this tragic consequence today. Such incident never happened in Tripura earlier.

The deceased’s wife said that since three days her husband was very upset, angry, was shouting at everyone of the family member  saying, he can not ride his ‘tom tom’ on road anymore and can’t arrange meals for their children. Moreover, there was another intrigue which was played by unknown blackship in the Govt that even after having proper papers, they were not given registrations, licenses. For many days, tom tom drivers are begging supports from this door to that door but no one helped them, resulted in the deadly consequence.

Workers said, “The person was unable to give loan in Bandhan bank. Tomorrow all have to die. Who will take the responsibility ? Where is transport minister ?”

The the drivers blocked road in Agartala since afternoon and at night by lathi-charge the road blockade was withdrawn.

Before the banning of E-rickshaws, the drivers got 7 month’s time, but due to Transport dept’s negligence and delay, the workers could not manage their papers and thus, now they have sought more time.

Tom Tom drivers under E-Rickshaw Sramik Samiti have demanded just one month time before banning their rickshaws. But BMS at the same time has demanded 6 month's time. Already many workless men could not earn bread butter today and started crying. They are unable to give loans to Bandhan banks.

On yesterday the workers’ leaders said that they do not believe in any protest but if they are forced to protest then how would be the protest it can not be said.

But today after the worker’s suicide the situation has gone out of control of the Govt as for the inhuman move of the Govt it has to pay for long.
