UDAIPUR (Gomati Tripura), June 22 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb in move for “Green Tripura” has inaugurated massive plantation drive programme at the Lake City Udaipur.

School students took active participation in the green move and on behalf of the Govt they have plated 6700 numbers of trees by both sides of National Highway.

Along with the CM Gomati District officials, Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLA Biplab Ghosh, Shakti Kant Singh, District Forest Officer (DFO) of Gomati District remained present.

It has been said that many trees were cut while expanding roadway projects in that route during double-lane projects and hopefully will be now covered up now.

TIWN already reported, Udaipur lost its greenery as many times in the name of road expansion big trees were fell down for last 10 years but never re-planted which has affected the environment at there. Many roads like Udaipur-Melaghar left without road-expansion amid massive tree cuts. Udaipur is suffering from lack-of-enough-monsoon due to dry weather and also huge areas of rubber plantation.

The situation now hoping to develop yet question mark remained on the green Tripura project due to illegal deforestations are going on in many parts of the state.
