AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 18 (TIWN): Even before the upcoming Panchayat election date was declared, clashes were reported in few parts of the state centering the election. In a gap of less than a month after Lok Sabha Election result was declared making a landslide victory for the BJP at Centre and State, Tripura Political parties have geared up for upcoming Panchayat Election. On yesterday, viral footage of violence spread in social media, youths with political colours were seen injured and they also carried “lathisâ€, “da’ saying BJP held an attack on them and also stone pelting took place between two groups. Huge numbers of security persons were deployed in the area, law and order reportedly left turmoil.State Election Commission has not yet announced the dates for upcoming Panchyat elections but ruling BJP and other parties have conducted primary meeting for the election’s preparation. Both BJP and IPFT have met in clash recently where BJP’s newly elected MP Rebati Tripura’s home was attacked.
BJP President cum CM Biplab Deb before his departure in Delhi, had a review meeting of his party and checked what are the situations going on in favour and against his party.
CPI-M informed media media that CPI-M is keen to give its candidates but wants to ask the Chief Minister, whether there will be repetition of violence and poll rigging like previous local body polls.
BJP has constituted a 13 member committee led by Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath for the nomination of candidates. By June 21, BJP will get the aspirant candidates’ names.
Congress conducted a meeting led by Party President Pradyot Manikya and senior Congress leaders.
According to the State Election Commission’s report, 12,02,989 voters’ names will be listed in the electoral list.
